PONDS, WATERFALLS&
STREAMS.

Custom koi ponds, waterfalls, streams, and fountains — bringing the sound and serenity of moving water to your backyard.

OVERVIEW / 01

WATER THAT
LIVES.

A well-designed water feature is the calmest thing on your property. Falling water, koi gliding under lily pads, a stream you can hear from the porch — these aren't decoration. They're a piece of the landscape that pulls you outside.

At Muthler Landscaping, we design and install waterscapes that look natural the day they're built and only get better. Proper liner, proper filtration, properly placed stone — engineered to run quietly and stay clear year-round, even through PA winters.

CAPABILITIES / 02

WHAT WE
BUILD.

01

Garden Ponds

Decorative ponds with aquatic plants, rocks, and gentle water flow. Sized to your yard and your maintenance comfort level.

02

Koi Ponds

Deeper, fully-filtered ponds engineered for koi to live and overwinter in PA. Proper depth, aeration, and biological filtration.

03

Waterfalls

Naturalistic waterfalls with hand-placed stone, hidden pumps, and tuned water sound — from gentle trickle to roaring drop.

04

Streams & Creeks

Meandering water features that wind through gardens, connect ponds, or run from a waterfall down to a basin.

05

Pondless Waterfalls

The sound and motion of a waterfall without the maintenance of an open pond. Safer with kids and pets, and easier to manage.

06

Fountains

From traditional tiered fountains to modern stone and basin features. Custom-built or premium pre-fabricated.

07

Water Gardens

Shallow ponds focused on aquatic plants — water lilies, lotuses, marginal plants — for a more natural, garden-style look.

08

Lighting & Filtration

LED underwater lighting, biological filtration systems, UV clarifiers — the unseen work that keeps it beautiful year-round.

EQUIPMENT / 03

QUALITY
EQUIPMENT.

The pump is the heart of any water feature. We use the same gear we'd trust on our own properties.

Aquascape & Atlantic Pumps
Industry-leading, quiet, energy-efficient, built for long-term use.
Natural Stone & Boulders
Local PA stone where possible, placed naturally — not stacked like a wall.
Heavy-Duty EPDM Liner
Fish-safe, UV-stable, 20+ year manufacturer warranty.
Bio-Filtration Systems
Mechanical and biological filtration sized for your water volume and fish load.
WHY MUTHLER / 04

BUILT TO
FLOW RIGHT.

Bad water features go green, get loud, and leak. Ours don't.

Proper Sizing Right pump, right filter, right liner for your water volume — not what's on sale.
Quiet Operation Pumps placed and plumbed to run almost silently. You hear the water, not the motor.
Winter-Ready Design Built deep enough and engineered for PA freezes. Koi safely overwinter in place.
Natural Stone Placement We don't just dig a hole and drop rocks. We compose it — every stone has a reason.
FAQ / 05

COMMON
QUESTIONS.

How much does a pond or water feature cost?
A basic pondless waterfall starts around $4,500–$7,000 installed. Garden ponds range $8,000–$15,000 depending on size and stone. Full koi pond systems with high-end filtration can run $20,000+. We provide detailed line-item estimates.
Will my pond freeze solid in winter?
No — properly designed ponds (24"+ deep) don't freeze through. We install de-icers or aerators to keep a hole open in the ice for gas exchange. Koi go dormant and overwinter safely on the bottom.
Do ponds attract mosquitoes?
The opposite, when designed right. Moving water from a pump or waterfall prevents mosquito breeding (they need still water). Add a few fish and any larvae get eaten immediately.
How much maintenance does a water feature require?
A pondless waterfall takes about an hour a month plus a spring cleanout. A planted koi pond takes more — call it 1–2 hours a week in summer plus seasonal work. We can also handle maintenance for you if you'd rather not.
Can I keep koi in Central PA?
Yes. With proper depth (3–4 feet minimum), filtration, and a de-icer for winter — koi thrive here. Some of our customers' fish are 15+ years old.
Can a water feature go on a sloped yard?
Slopes are actually perfect — natural elevation makes waterfalls and streams easier to build and more dramatic. We use the grade to our advantage.
