LANDSCAPING&
GARDEN DESIGN.

Landscape design, planting, garden beds, mulch, sod, and seasonal care — building outdoor spaces that grow more beautiful every season.

OVERVIEW / 01

ROOTED IN
CRAFTSMANSHIP.

A great landscape isn't planted — it's designed. At Muthler Landscaping, we plan, plant, and prepare outdoor spaces that look beautiful the day they're finished and even better five years later. Right plant, right place, proper soil prep — every time.

From a single garden bed refresh to a full property re-design with mature trees, native plantings, and seasonal color — we handle the whole process in-house. No subcontracted nursery crews, no guesswork. Just craftsmanship that grows.

CAPABILITIES / 02

WHAT WE
PLANT.

01

Landscape Design & Planning

Custom landscape plans drawn to your property, taste, and budget. We map every plant, every bed, every transition — before a shovel hits the ground.

02

Planting Installation

Trees, shrubs, perennials, and annuals — installed with proper depth, soil amendment, and staking. We source healthy, locally-adapted nursery stock.

03

Garden & Flower Beds

New bed installation or full renovation of existing beds. Edged, shaped, soil-prepped, planted, and mulched — turn-key from layout to bloom.

04

Mulching

Premium triple-shredded hardwood, dyed, or natural bark mulch. Applied at the right depth — not piled against trunks. Annual refresh or fresh installs.

05

Sod Installation

Instant lawn. Quality bluegrass and fescue blends installed over properly prepped soil, with rolling and the first-water included.

06

Native Plantings

Pennsylvania-native species that thrive without chemicals, support pollinators, and need less water. Beautiful and built for our climate.

07

Seasonal Cleanups

Spring opening — debris, edging, fresh mulch, pruning. Fall closeout — cutbacks, leaf removal, winter prep. Done right, on schedule.

08

Edging & Bed Shaping

Clean steel, stone, or trench edging that defines beds and stops grass invasion. Fresh shape makes the whole property look intentional.

WHY MUTHLER / 04

WE GROW IT
RIGHT.

The difference between a landscape that looks great this year and one that thrives for decades is in how it gets installed.

Proper Soil Prep Test, amend, till. We don't plant into compacted clay and hope for the best.
Right Plant, Right Place Sun, soil, water, mature size — we plan for all of it before we plant.
Healthy Stock We reject weak or root-bound plants. What goes in your yard is the best of what we order.
Aftercare Guidance We walk you through watering, mulch, and seasonal care before we leave the job.
FAQ / 05

COMMON
QUESTIONS.

When's the best time to plant in Pennsylvania?
Spring (April–early June) and fall (mid-August–late October) are ideal. Cooler air and warmer soil let roots establish before summer heat or winter freeze. We plant year-round when conditions allow — we'll advise honestly on timing.
How long does a landscape installation take?
Small bed installs and refreshes usually take 1–3 days. Larger full-property landscape designs with multiple beds, trees, and sod can take 1–2 weeks. We give a clear timeline at estimate and stick to it.
Will my new plants survive PA winters?
Yes — when we choose species rated for USDA Zone 6 (most of Central PA) and plant them properly with mulch and pre-winter watering. We only install plants known to thrive in our climate.
Do you guarantee the plants?
Yes. One-year warranty on trees and shrubs we install, assuming reasonable care and watering. If something dies in that window, we replace it.
Can you maintain my landscape after installation?
For landscapes we install, we'll come back for mulch refreshes, seasonal cleanups, pruning, and bed renovations. We're focused on installation and renovation — not weekly maintenance.
What's the difference between landscaping and hardscaping?
Landscaping is the living stuff — plants, trees, beds, sod, mulch. Hardscaping is the built stuff — patios, walls, walkways, fire pits. Most great outdoor spaces use both. See our hardscaping page for the built side.
